As usual, Tom had read his weather forecasts correctly, and we woke to rain. Great idea to have a rest day, Tom!
Mid morning the rain cleared, and it was agreed that we should at least take a look at the town of Clermont. Another mining town that has seen better days. It didn’t take long – a walk along the main street, a stop at the Bakery (it did have one!), a drive around the back streets (lots of lovely Queenslanders, and lots of For Sale signs). A stop at the Clermont museum was actually quite interesting – the lady at the front desk was quite talkative (just the sort for the job) and Jim and Tom quickly made their way to the outside exhibits.

Then back to the van for a rest, and more rain set in. Finally a farewell tea of sausages and beans with Jim and Jenny in their van.

Tom’s day of rest was over, and it was time to get ready again for the push north!
